Antoni Terceño, Antoni Pigrau and Pau de Solà-Morales, new responsibles for their centers URV
On Friday 11 December, has been chosen Antoni Pigrau, Professor of Public Law and International Relations, as the new dean of the Faculty of Law. At the meeting of board of the center attended 29 members that compose December 38 and received 25 positive votes and four blank votes. Will replace Alfonso González Bond, who has served a term of four years.
The new team consists dean: the dean, Angels Galiana; Secretary of the Faculty, Teresa Franquet; responsible for teaching law, Nuria Torres; responsible for teaching and Employment Relations, Catherine George; and responsible teaching of Social Work, Ramona Torrens.
Pigrau Antonio is director of the Center for Research in Environmental Law (CEDAT) and directs the "Catalan Journal of Environmental Law" (RCDA), a collaboration of the URV and the Department of Territory and Sustainability of the Government. He is vice president of the International Catalan Institute for Peace and member of the Permanent Peoples' Tribunal (PPT). At the URV has been a member of the Management Board, as secretary general and as vice different areas, and responsible URV Solidarity Commission.
Elections at the Faculty of Economics and Business
The same 11 December was elected Antoni Terceño, Professor of Financial Economics, as the new dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, a position he had held for seventeen years. In the voting session of the board of the center attended 39 of the 45 people who form it, and cast 34 votes for his candidacy and 5 blank votes. Replace the dean M Glory Barbera, who has held office for two terms of four years.
Among the objectives Terceño raises the mandate are: to maintain the high level of organization and teaching quality, give greater visibility to the Faculty; rethink the map of masters, Increasing internationalization; foster the spirit of belonging to the school and implement the Integrated Quality Management (IQAS), which is already prepared.
His team in the direction of the center are: Teresa M. Sorrosal, dean; Norberto Marquez, head of the degree of Administration and Management (ADE) in central Reus; Josep Miró, head of the center ADE Tortosa; Carmen Molina, Head of Finance and Accounting degree; and Mercedes Teruel, head of Economics degree. The secretary of the Faculty is Christian Duran, and coordinator of the Master in Management is Eleni Papaoikonomou.
The new dean was until now the coordinator of the PhD in Economics and Business, with mention of excellence, and is the principal investigator of the research group Markets and Financial Analysis. He has been visiting professor at universities in Argentina, Mexico, Cuba, Belarus and Spain. Besides occupying the dean Antoni Terceño has been director of the department of Business Management, and member of the government team as Vice President of the URV different areas. He has been president of the Association of Economists in Tarragona and member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Reus.
Relief in the direction of the School of Architecture
In this month of December on Thursday, 3 chose the architect and Dr. Paul de Solà-Morales as Director of the School of Architecture (ETSA). His appointment became effective on 4.
In the elections had presented two candidates. In the voting session of the board of the center, which was attended by the 13 members that make up Pau de Solà-Morales won eight votes, and Professor Blas Herrera, 5 votes. The new manager Josep Bertran replaced in office director from the beginning of the ETSA.
Solà-Morales is a senior lecturer in the Department of Architecture
URV, until now responsible for teaching architecture studies. UPC Degree in Architecture (ETSAB), has a Master in Design Studies (MSesS) and defended his doctoral thesis on the representation of architecture at Harvard University (2000). He has taught at the Harvard Design School (USA) and the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio (Switzerland) until 2006, when he joined the URV. He has also worked in several major architectural projects, such as author and collaborator, including the reconstruction of the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Palau Reial de Pedralbes.
The ETSA is a young school of architecture, created with the assistance of many different architects of first level. Its objectives are to provide good service in the territory in which is inserted, and train future professionals; a territory rich in history and heritage that currently struggle to establish itself as a new metropolitan area around multiple cities and infrastructures scattered; a region in transformation which the School of Architecture wants to support.
